On the morning of March 12, 2015, Vice President CHENFeng met with Marios M. Polycarpou, Professor of Electrical and ComputerEngineering and the Director of the KIOS Research Center for IntelligentSystems and Networks at the University of Cyprus. 

CHEN Feng extended welcome to Prof. MariosM.Polycarpou on behalf of the University. He pointed out that the rapiddevelopment of China’s economy in recent years has strongly promoted the boomof rail transit industry. For the cause of China’s rail transit, we have maderemarkable contributions in the research and construction work. Theinternationalization effort of the University not only places emphasis on theintroduction of high-end talents and the cultivation of international students,but also attaches great importance to the implementation of China’s initiativesof “One Belt, One Road” and “Going Global”, the guideline of “Putting Educationas a Priority” as well as the substantive cooperation with other universitiesacross the globe. Meanwhile, CHEN hoped that both sides would give play tocomplementary advantages to enhance cooperation. And, he fully supports Prof.Marios M.Polycarpou’s declaration of the "Thousand Foreign TalentsProgram”.

Prof. Marios M. Polycarpou expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality. Hesaid this visit has deepened his understanding of the University and he wasgreatly impressed by the research work of Rail Transit and Information andControl of Beijing Jiaotong University. He expected to further strengthencooperation with us in scientific research and student cultivation of relateddisciplines. Besides, he would make contributions to the internationalizationdevelopment of Beijing Jiaotong University. 

After the meeting, Prof. Marios M. Polycarpou made apresentation titled “Robust Sensor Fault Detection and Isolation inCyber-Physical Systems” and interacted with teachers and students. 

Principals from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Office ofHuman Resources and Office of International Affairs were also present at themeeting.
