Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University visits BJTU

On June 19th, 2024, President YU Zujun received a delegation from Lancaster University led by Vice-Chancellor Andy Schofield. Vice President GUAN Zhongliang attended the visit.
President YU Zujun extended a warm welcome to Vice-Chancellor Andy Schofield and colleagues from Lancaster University. He provided a brief overview of BJTU's history, disciplinary features, talent development scenario, and international education initiatives. He also explained BJTU's role in national rail transit development. He stated that both universities have seen positive results from Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running School Programs. He also stated his desire that both parties will improve collaboration in professor and student mobility, collaborative education, and research.
Vice-Chancellor Andy Schofield expressed gratitude for BJTU's hospitality and briefly discussed Lancaster University's present development position. He discussed the history of cooperation between the two institutions, as well as the establishment of Lancaster University College. The Vice-Chancellor praised BJTU's achievements in talent development and research, as well as its role in advancing the execution of the 'Belt and Road' Initiative. He thinks that both sides can strengthen the current program structure and make significant progress in areas such as 'industry-academia-research' collaboration.
The delegation paid visits to the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Rail Autonomous Operation and the University Museum.
The conference was also attended by representatives from the Undergraduate School, Weihai International College, and the Office of International Affairs.
