From September 13 to 20, 2023, President YU Zujun led a delegation to visit Indonesia and Australia for working under invitation. During their stay in Indonesia, the delegation visited the Bandung Institute of Technology and China-Indonesia High-Speed Railway Joint Venture, experienced the newly opened Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway and visited the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia. During their stay in Australia, the delegation visited Monash University, the University of Wollongong and other institutions, and conducted academic discussions with academicians in the field of transportation and outstanding alumni of BJTU at the University of Technology Sydney. The visit further consolidated and expanded the cooperation between BJTU and well-known universities and enterprises in Indonesia and Australia, with both positive results and expected goals achieved.

During the visit to Bandung Institute of Technology, Jaka Sembiring, Vice President of Bandung Institute of Technology, discussed the work of the two universities in the fields of talent training, joint scientific research, rail transit training and joint seminars in the fields of communication engineering and transportation. YU Zujun noted that in the future, BJTU will continue to promote the joint training of railway-related professionals, rail transit-related international training, joint scientific research among teachers and the construction of China-Indonesia high-speed rail research center under the "Belt & Road" framework, so as to provide talents and technical support for the future railway construction in Indonesia. YU Zujun and Jaka Sembiring renewed the cooperation agreement between BJTU and Bandung Institute of Technology on behalf of the two universities.

During the visit to the China-Indonesia High-speed Rail Joint Venture, ZHANG Chao, deputy general manager, introduced in details the basic situation of China-Indonesia High-speed Rail Joint Venture and the progress of the construction, operation and maintenance of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, and hoped that BJTU could give full play to the advantages of railway talent training and support the later operation and maintenance of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. YU Zujun hoped that in the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation and carry out joint training of localized talents, railway technology training, overseas internships and employment, etc., so as to promote the construction and development of Indonesia's railways and contribute BJTU’s efforts to China's railways going global.

During their visit to Indonesia, the delegation took a ride on the newly opened Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. As a high-speed railway connecting Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, the fourth largest city, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway marks the first high-speed railway in Southeast Asia, a landmark project of the "Belt & Road" and pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia, and the first high-speed railway project that has been launched overseas by China's high-speed railway with a full system, all elements and the whole industrial chain.

The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, where YU Zujun had in-depth exchanges with Ambassador LU Kang, and discussed the exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia in the fields of education and railways.

During his visit to Monash University in Australia, YU Zujun held talks with Professor Michael Ryan, Vice President of the Monash University, Professor Chris Davies of the School of Engineering, and Professor Robert Brooks of the School of Business. Michael Ryan introduced the relevant situation of Monash University, expressed his appreciation for the role and contribution of BJTU in serving the construction and development of China's rail transit, and hoped that the two sides could strengthen ties, expand and enrich the cooperation. YU Zujun introduced the basic situation of BJTU, and hoped that the two sides could expand to undergraduate 2+2 and 3+2 master's programs in engineering and other fields based on the existing 2+2 joint training program for undergraduates in the field of business studies. The delegation also visited the Institute of Railway Technology of Monash University, where they listened to the detailed introduction by Professor Ravi Ravitharan, director of the Institute, on the research areas and recent achievements. The two sides discussed the future development of talent training and scientific research cooperation in such fields as heavy-haul railways and urban rail transit.

During his visit to the University of Wollongong, YU had a meeting with Professor Sean Brawley, Executive Vice President of the University. Professor Sean Brawley reviewed the history of cooperation between the two universities in the Sino-foreign cooperative education program of mechanical and electronic engineering, and hoped that in the future, the two universities will give full play to their respective disciplinary advantages, increase the exchange of teachers and students and talent training, expand the fields of cooperation, and achieve win-win development. YU Zujun expressed his gratitude to the University of Wollongong for its long-term cooperation and support, and hoped that the bachelor's, master's and doctoral joint training programs in the fields of engineering and business studies will be expanded, and student exchanges, joint scientific research, school-enterprise cooperation, and joint teaching will be jointly promoted with the support of the government departments of the two countries and on the basis of the existing Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in mechanical and electronic engineering of the two universities,. YU Zujun and Sean Brawley signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BJTU and the University of Wollongong on behalf of the two universities.

During the visit to Australia, the delegation also visited CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd in Australia and had an academic discussion with relevant academicians in the field of transportation and outstanding alumni of BJTU at the University of Technology Sydney.

The visit was accompanied by staff of relevant departments of the school and relevant personnel.
