【名词解释】
2017年7月，在中国共产党成立 96周年(96th Founding Anniversary of the Communist Party of China)之际，党中央批准《“七一勋章”授予办法》(The Method of Granting the "July 1 Medal")，正式确立“七一勋章”为党内最高荣誉。据介绍，该勋章一般在中国共产党成立逢五、逢十的年份授予。2021年是中共成立100周年(the Centenary of the Founding of the CPC)，也是该勋章设立后首个“逢五、逢十”的年份，故而“七一勋章”首次颁发。按照授予办法，“七一勋章”授予在中国特色社会主义伟大事业(Great Cause of Socialism with Chinese characteristics)和党的建设新的伟大工程（the New Great Project of Party Building）中作出杰出贡献的党员(CPC members)。中共意在通过规范、权威的功勋荣誉表彰制度，充分发挥党和国家功勋荣誉表彰的精神引领、典型示范作用。
十八大以来，我国确立了以“五章一簿”（Five Medals, One Book）为主干的功勋荣誉表彰制度体系——“共和国勋章”（Medal of the Republic）、 “七一勋章”（July 1 Medal）、“八一勋章”（August 1st Medal）、“友谊勋章”（Friendship Medal）、国家荣誉称号（National Titles of Honor），国家功勋簿(National Book of Merit )。随着此次“七一勋章”的颁授，当下五大最高荣誉在中国共产党成立百年之时，已全部颁齐。

庆祝中国共产党成立100周年“七一勋章”颁授仪式6月29日隆重举行。中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平向“七一勋章”获得者颁授勋章并发表重要讲话。
President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, on June 29 conferred the July 1 Medal on model CPC members.
习近平指出，今天受到表彰的“七一勋章”获得者，就是各条战线党员中的杰出代表。在他们身上，生动体现了中国共产党人坚定信念、践行宗旨、拼搏奉献、廉洁奉公的高尚品质和崇高精神。
Xi addressed the attendees after presenting the medals. Noting that the awardees have been outstanding representatives of CPC members on all fronts, Xi said they embody Party members' staunch faith, fighting and dedicated spirit, integrity and devotion, and loyalty to the Party's fundamental tenet.
