【词义解释】

最严重的一种党的纪律处分。党员受到开除党籍处分，五年内不得重新入党。另有规定不准重新入党的，依照规定执行。

　　对于开除党籍的规定，主要体现在《中国共产党纪律处分条例》中，对开除党籍作出了100多条的规定。党章对于开除党籍，在第38条中规定“严重触犯刑律的党员必须开除党籍”，第39条在规定“留党查看......坚持错误不改的，应当开除党籍”。

2014年6月30日，党的生日前夕，中共中央决定给予徐才厚、蒋洁敏、李东生、王永春开除党籍处分。上述4个重量级的“落马”官员，是中央纪委交出的“反腐案卷”中浓墨重彩的一笔。
