China-Laos Railway

【背景信息】

中老铁路于12月3日全线开通运营。中老铁路全长1035公里，连接中国西南部云南省昆明市和老挝首都万象，是中国“一带一路”倡议与老挝“变陆锁国为陆联国”战略对接的重要项目。

The China-Laos Railway, a landmark project connecting Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan province with the Laotian capital, Vientiane, begins operations on Dec 3. The 1,035-kilometer-long railway is a docking project between the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Laos' strategy to convert itself from a landlocked country to a land-linked hub.

【详细介绍】

中老铁路是与中国铁路网直接连通的国际铁路，线路北起中国云南昆明，向南经中国云南玉溪、云南普洱、云南磨憨边境口岸，再经老挝磨丁边境口岸，最终到达老挝首都万象，线路全长1035公里。开通运营后，加上口岸通关时间，旅客从昆明至万象最快约10小时可达。

中老铁路的开通运营，对密切中老两国经济社会和人文合作交流，加快建设中老经济走廊、构建中老命运共同体，具有十分重要的意义。此外，作为泛亚铁路的重要骨干，中老铁路还将对中国—东盟自由贸易区、大湄公河次区域经济合作、共建“一带一路”等产生积极影响。

【重要讲话】

双方要深化发展战略对接，以中国加快构建新发展格局和《区域全面经济伙伴关系协定》正式签署为契机，稳步推进中老经济走廊和中老铁路建设，拓展文教、青年、旅游等领域合作，并加强在国际和地区事务中的协调，推动中老命运共同体建设走深走实，更好造福两国人民。

The two sides should deepen the alignment of their development strategies and take China's construction of a new development pattern and the formal signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership as an opportunity to steadily propel the construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor and China-Laos Railway, expand cooperation in various fields such as culture and education, youth and tourism, and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs. In doing so, the two countries can deliver more solid outcomes in the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future and create greater benefits for the people of both countries.
