中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平10月19日参观“纪念中国人民志愿军抗美援朝出国作战70周年主题展览”时强调，要在新时代继承和弘扬伟大抗美援朝精神，为实现中华民族伟大复兴而奋斗。
President Xi Jinping stressed carrying forward the great spirit demonstrated by the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea in the new era and striving to achieve national rejuvenation. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while visiting an exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the CPV army entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea on Oct 19.
【知识点】
1950年6月，朝鲜内战爆发，美国政府纠集“联合国军”进行武装干涉，并派遣海军第七舰队侵入中国台湾海峡。此后，侵朝美军越过三八线 (the 38th Parallel)，直逼鸭绿江，并出动飞机轰炸中国东北边境，直接威胁到新中国的国家安全。虽然当时中国正面临着巩固政权、恢复经济的紧急任务，但应朝鲜民主主义人民共和国的请求，中共中央多次召开会议，经过反复权衡，在10月上旬做出了抗美援朝、保家卫国(resist US aggressors and aid Korea to defend the motherland)的历史性决策。
1950年10月，中国人民志愿军奉命开赴朝鲜战场，与朝鲜人民并肩作战，到1951年6月，历时7个多月，先后同以美国为首的“联合国军”进行五次大的战役，共歼敌23万余人，把战线稳定在三八线附近地区。
在中国人民志愿军入朝作战的同时，国内掀起轰轰烈烈的抗美援朝运动。全国各阶层人民踊跃参军参战，捐献飞机大炮，慰问志愿军，订立爱国公约，开展增产节约运动，有力地支援了前方作战。
1951年7月，朝鲜战争进入“边打边谈”阶段。经过两年的相持，交战双方于1953年7月签署停战协定(the Armistice Agreement)，抗美援朝战争取得伟大胜利。
中国人民志愿军出国作战，是保卫和平、反抗侵略的正义之举。这场战争的胜利，打破了美帝国主义不可战胜的神话，创造了以弱胜强的范例，极大提高了中国共产党在全国人民心目中的威信，提高了中国人民的民族自信心和民族自豪感，中国的国际地位空前提高，为我国的经济建设和社会发展赢得了一个相对稳定的和平环境。

抗美援朝战争锻造形成的伟大抗美援朝精神，是弥足珍贵的精神财富，必将激励中国人民和中华民族克服一切艰难险阻、战胜一切强大敌人。
